Love a healthy challenge? The feeling's mutual
Background information regarding the Mutual Community Challenge Tour and Mini Tour for Kids.
Mutual Community actively supports the communities in which it operates. This ranges from local to national initiatives that encourage all Australians to make positive lifestyle choices in order to live longer, healthier, happier lives.
As part of our ongoing commitment to a healthier community, Mutual Community has continually supported the Santos Tour Down Under since its inception in 1999. We are more proud than ever to be supporting such a fantastic event, which brings in more than $39 million to the South Australian economy.
The Santos Tour Down Under, which is the first race of the Union Cycliste International Pro Tour world calendar, will take place between Sunday 17 January and Sunday 24 January, finishing in Adelaide's town centre. The event showcases the world's best cycling teams, including Lance Armstrong's new team, which will make its racing debut at the 2010 Santos Tour Down Under.
Mutual Community's South Australian General Manager Eric Granger said the company was delighted to again host the Mutual Community Challenge Tour.
In 2010 the Mutual Community Challenge Tour will be held on Stage 4 of the Tour Down Under between Norwood and Goolwa. At 160.5km, it is the longest ever route for the ride and is a great way for cycling fans to be part of the Tour and ride the same UCI Pro Tour route as the best in the world.
The Tour has three ride options to suitable for all levels and abilities of cyclist:
- Option 1 - 160.5km Norwood to Goolwa (start at 6.30am)
- Option 2 - 111km Woodside to Goolwa (start at 7.00am)
- Option 3 - 35km Milang to Goolwa (start at 9.30am)
The Mutual Community Mini Tour for Kids also provides junior cyclists with the opportunity to ride the same course as their heroes, and acts as a curtain-raiser to the Team Presentation of the pro cycling teams. This year, the Mutual Community Mini Tour will be held on Sunday 24 January at the Adelaide City Council Street Circuit.
"Mutual Community is proud to support the local SA community and we encourage everyone to participate in the week-long event; from active participation to supporting our local community and being a spectator to a world-class event," Mr Granger said.
