Turning 31 or over?
Avoid the crunch. Don't get hit by Lifetime Health Cover.
If you’re turning 31 - or you're over 31 - and you don’t have hospital cover, the sooner you get health insurance, the less you'll be impacted by Lifetime Health Cover.
Here’s how it works: Under the Government’s Lifetime Health Cover scheme, you'll get hit by a 2% loading for each year you wait to take out private hospital cover (after you turn 31). The earlier you take out private hospital cover the better; so it pays to consider taking out cover now.
For example: Hospital cover at age 31 may cost you $100 per month. Delay taking out the same hospital cover until age 40 and it will cost you $120 per month.
All Mutual Community hospital covers will protect you from the Lifetime Health Cover loading on private health cover.
