Popups or download links not working?

This page will show you how to disable popup blockers and unblock popup windows from the most popular browsers and plugins.

If you are still having trouble viewing popups and downloading forms, brochures and policy booklets once you have checked your browser and plugin settings then you may need to look at whether your anti-virus program has a popup blocker.

Should there still be a problem once you have checked all of the above, please refer to the Form and brochure downloads still not working? section at the end of this page.

Browser popup blockers

Some versions of popular browsers such as Internet Explorer and Firefox do not allow popup windows to appear by default.

In your browser settings, you can choose whether you would like to unblock popups from all websites, or just those selected by you. Click on the link to your browser type below for a guide on how to detect if it is blocking popup windows and if so, change your browser settings to allow them from our website.

Internet Explorer

Firefox

Internet Explorer

With Internet Explorer you can let individual popup windows through by pressing the 'Ctrl' key while clicking on a link, but if you unblock popups from all or selected websites, popups and downloads will be let through automatically.

A popup window may be blocked by Internet Explorer or one of its plugins, such as Google toolbar.

If you see this icon underneath the address bar Popup blocked by IE or this icon Popup blocked by IE on the status bar (at the bottom of the browser window), Internet Explorer has blocked a popup window.

If you see this icon Popup blocked by plugin on the toolbar below the address bar, one of your browser plugins (such as Google or Yahoo toolbar) have blocked a popup window.

The instructions below will show you how to unblock popup windows in Internet Explorer.

To unblock popup windows from websites of your choice:

  1. Go to 'Tools > Pop-up Blocker > Pop-up Blocker Settings' on the browser menu and click on 'Pop-up Blocker Settings'
  2. Popup blocker settings

  3. Enter the addresses of the websites you wish to allow popup windows on in the 'Address of Web site to allow' field one by one, clicking on 'Add' after each. The addresses of the websites you allow will appear in the field under 'Allowed sites'
  4. Popup blocker settings

  5. If popup windows are still being blocked on any of your 'Allowed sites', check that they are not being blocked by a browser plugin popup blocker.
  6. If at any stage you would like to disallow popup windows from any of your 'Allowed sites', simply click on the website address in the 'Allowed sites' field to highlight it, then click 'Remove'.
  7. To disallow popup windows from all of your 'Allowed sites', simply click 'Remove All'.
  8. Once the settings are changed to your specifications, reload the web page by clicking on the 'Refresh' icon Refresh icon on the toolbar.

To unblock popup windows from all websites:

  1. Go to 'Tools > Pop-up Blocker > Turn Off Pop-up Blocker' on the browser menu and click on 'Turn Off Pop-up Blocker'
  2. Unblock all popups in IE

  3. Reload the web page by clicking on the 'Refresh' icon Refresh icon on the toolbar.

    Popups blocked by plugin

You may have a plugin other than the Google toolbar that is blocking popup windows, such as the Yahoo toolbar. If this is the case, check its settings and make sure that popup windows are unblocked or allowed for the website you are on. If popup windows are still being blocked, check that they are not being blocked by your browser itself.

Form and brochure downloads still not working?

The additional factors outlined below can also influence whether popup windows are able to be viewed correctly.

Adobe Reader installed?

To be able to view many of the PDF documents on our website Adobe Reader will need to be installed. This can be downloaded free from Adobe.

If you have Adobe Reader installed, your computer should display PDFs within a new internet browser window once you've clicked on the link. From here, the document can be printed by clicking on the printer icon.

If your PDF file is not displaying correctly, it may help to upgrade your version of Adobe Reader by downloading it from Adobe again.

Check browser security settings

If you have attempted to view a PDF file in an Internet Explorer browser and the window that opens is blank, it may be because Internet Explorer's browser security settings are not allowing Adobe Reader to open the file. The following instructions should fix this:

  1. Go to 'Tools > 'Internet Options...'
  2. Click on the 'Security' tab on the window that opens.
  3. Click on 'Internet' under 'Select a web content zone to specify its security settings'.
  4. If the security level of the 'Internet' content zone is set to 'High', change it to 'Medium'.
  5. Click on 'Apply', then 'OK'.
  6. 'Refresh' or 'Reload' the web page

Upgrade browser version

In some circumstances, users with older or incorrectly configured versions of Internet Explorer may receive a blank screen or an error message while trying to view a PDF document. To fix this problem, please ensure your browser software is up-to-date.
